Jai_Ganesha said:Then again, I do like plain, species cacti, and other plants. One of my favorite houseplants is a plain green Chlorphytum which I got from a member here. I also disfavor variegation, fasciation ("cresting"), tissue culture, and grafting of plants. I find all of them to be too gimmicky.

I am with you there, but while we are not necessarily in the minority, there are a lot of people out there who go for all these oddballs. Variegation is so common in nursery and big box store plants that there are many people out there that think that is how the majority of said variegated plant looks in the wild, not realizing that in the wild variegation is actually not very common at all.

You can come across Totem Pole cacti everywhere in the (sub)urban landscape, and yes it is naturally occurring, but it is still a rare mutation that appears to occur in a few variations, but it is not like there are large Totem Pole cactus forests out in the wild like there are large areas of its normal version the Senita.
It is what it is!
