I've gotten back home from my trip. It was a great time!
Well, it looks like I've got some work to do. Firstly, the L-shaped bed was really haphazardly made by your's truly and there were irises under the new soil that I didn't know were there, and now they're growing up and uprooting some of the new plantings. I betcha haven't had that one before!
I may try and get everything out of the area where unknown irises are growing up, and transplant those noids elsewhere, or I am also thinking about taking the top part of the L out, and leaving the horizontal part of the bed. I have another spot in front of our house (or the porch) that I feel these may look swell in should I choose to do so.
Despite the issue with the L-shaped bed, quite a few of the new plantings have rooted pretty firmly in the ground, and some are even sending up increases, only about two weeks after planting. The irises in the tire, all three, Sharp Dressed Man, Epicenter, and IB Micro Burst have well rooted themselves crazily fast. Micro Burst is sending up a third increase from the original two and the fan that I received.
One iris (noid) was uprooted that had three increases. I planted it promptly back right where it was. It was a yellow noid that was given to me in August. Two new noids were given to me, but the pink and red one, like Indian Chief seems to be more vigorous, or quicker at its vigorousness. Well, now the yellow noids are catching up. Most of the yellow noids have at least two increases, with some working up thirds. I am feeling a little more confident in maybe that these yellow noids will bloom too next season.
My little Midnight MDB suffered while I was gone. Now the rhizome, what's left of it is less than two inches long, when it was closer to four or five before the rot. I planted the remaining little bit (which was growing an increase) in with Cat's Eye, and the tiny Edith Wolford rhizome. I hope little Midnight recovers!
Other than the little update here, lots of de-weeding to do after six days of not doing so.
