Young aloes tend to be kind of hard to tell apart. Give them time and marlothii will turn into a real monster, even in a pot.

Stush, your aloes look real succulent and I like the variegates a lot. That's something I have stayed away from, so I enjoy looking at other people's striped plants. Smiling

I hope everyone with aloes (even just 1 or 2) posts pictures here. These threads really benefit from lots of people participating.

Some photos from the public garden I took this morning.... we're at the tail end of a drought that has gone on since February with only a couple of brief and insignificant interruptions, so the aloes out there are looking kind of beat up. Still a couple of them with flowers about to drop. The first one (melanacantha) seems to power right on through the drought unfazed.

The marlothii on the right here has grown a bit of a stem. I just pruned the arborescens next to it, removing about 12 branches. All of those cuttings found new homes. Smiling You can see a few stumps in the picture.

These 2 are showing stress colors which reflect their outlook on life after such a long drought.

Finally these 2 which flowered together last year... the seedlings from the back plant are starting to show some promise. I talked the neighbor into planting one so I can see what the flowers look like. All the space in the public garden is taken (for now, until something dies). Rolling my eyes.
