Pete, has this plant flowered for you? On a different website where I think you also occasionally visit (Agaveville) there is a plant photo listed under Aloe hemmingii that looks almost exactly like yours.
Now Aloe hemmingii and Aloe somaliensis when young can look strikingly the same, but I think Aloe somaliensis will grow larger and is more prone to going spotless with age and has a distinctly different multi branched inflorescence, whereas Aloe hemmingii stays smaller, clumps more and has an inflorescence with no or only one or two branches, more wildly dispersed flowers.
Not saying your plant isn't what you posted it as, just wondering given the similarities between the plants when young and it would seem the inflorescence is the best way to try and tell the difference.
