Can you put it in an unused room for awhile? Near a window where it will get only natural light and no water for a few weeks? It might force it into bud, why don't you try and see? I don't think it will hurt it.

I think mine stayed in the unused room for maybe about 6 or 7 weeks. Buds popped as soon as I brought it back to the kitchen.
