I've upgraded from bleach because I don't like its corrosive/phytotoxic effects on the rhizomes root system. Yeah I know, bleach has been used since, -- forever. But I've found something I like better, and is more environmentally friendly.
I use Consan 20 as a soak prior to shipping. Its a broad spectrum disinfectant and fungicide, doesn't smell nasty, and is gentler on the roots systems. Its impossible for me to soak rhizomes already in the ground/or in pots in bleach --as you all can tell, I really hate bleach - lol. Therefore I spray the bases and lower third of the fans and the exposed rhizomes using the product and a spreader/sticker
