Hi Betty,
These are the books that helped me:
Basic Stained Glass Making: All the Skills and Tools You Need to Get Started (How To Basics)
by Eric Ebeling and Michael Johnston

Stained Glass Basics: Techniques * Tools * Projects
by Chris Rich and Martha Mitchell

I've tried some jewelry making and it was fun too. I did beading, but for me the neatest thing was playing with chainmaille jewelry. It's done with jump rings in different patterns and it's easy once you get the hang of it, and so much fun to do! Here is a good book on it:

One Jump Ring: Endless Possiblilities for Chain Mail Jewelry
by Lauren Andersen

Here is the first chainmaille project I did. It's a pair of simple copper earrings with seaglass.
