welcome to the iris forum @bombeni, seil, and june.

it would be helpful to know what growing zone you live, and what type of iris you have. if they were japanese iris, or siberian iris, pacific coast iris, they need different care than the tall bearded irises. also, if you lived on the west coast, more precisely, where it didn't snow or freeze, you would be able to plant your irises in pots.

if you're moving in april, in my growing zone for example, i would be potting them up in 1 gal. pots or larger, so they would be more convenient and easier to move. but, if you're in a cold zone, i might consider storing them in a cool dry place with good air circulation. (and as mentioned, no plastic and if there's enough space in a single layer, not stacked on each other too densely.)
