When the rain stops you add flocculant to the pool and run the pump to disperse it throughout the pool. Turn off the pump and let the pool still undisturbed for a few days. Then hook up a discharge hose to my pump and "vacuum to waste" the settled mud and pump it to the field. (Don't vacuum it through your pool filters!) Refill the pool...if I lost too much water during the vacuuming. Then shock the pool (heavily chlorinate) and brush it and run the pool pump for 24 hours. You have to keep an eye on the chemicals to get it back to normal. I just did all of this after the last large storm(s) we had. It's not hard, it's just time consuming (and added cost of pool chemicals).
Time will tell on the irises...
