Hey Cherie - I had the same thing happen with a decorative willow branch in a bouquet. It sprouted roots! I was told to only plant it in a pot outside as the roots are very invasive.
In Manitoba, I planted it in a large pot and it lasted for 3 years, until I moved to Calgary. There it lasted one year then died. I don't suppose it liked the Chinook winds (when a Chinook wind comes in, it gets like summer where you can go from parkas in the am, and T-shit and short weather by the end of the day!) Rolling my eyes.
