Lisa8M said:Hi Mika, we would love to visit these gardens when we go to South of France in May. Your photos and descriptions are really informative and looks like a tranquil haven. I am a bit concerned about the amount of steps. Do you remember please how many levels it is on and if I'm not able to go to the top is there quite a lot to explore on the flat on each level tier?
Hi Lisa, sorry for the delay in getting back to you - we're now in Costa Rica and I've been somewhat absorbed in the amazing flora and fauna...
May is a lovely time to visit the south of France - before the main influx of tourists in July and August, and there should be lots to see. The Serre de la Madone gardens are on a number of tiers (sorry I don't remember exactly how many), each quite narrow but intensely planted. The good news is that the steps are in pretty short runs and there are plenty of benches on the various tiers to sit on for a rest while admiring the views. Take a bottle of water with you. The beautiful villa is at the top of the garden, so if you can I would definitely recommend making the effort!
And there are other lovely gardens in Menton - here's a link you may find helpful:

I hope you have a wonderful time!
