At the forest nursery where I work we do a lot of hand weeding, handling plants and so on, so I've put in a lot of hours in gloves...
Working without gloves isn't really an option, nor is using clumsy gloves.
The brand we use at the nursery, is probably not available in the US, but I found a nearly identical glove called Wonder Grip WG-318 Aqua. I tried it in my own garden a couple of years now. It is very good. Excellent grip, water resistant, durable, yet rather thin. It is my favorite for spring or autumn weeding.
For summer temperatures and drier weather there are a number of very thin coated gloves that work well. They don't protect the hands as much as the Wonder Grip, but they are very comfortable and you almost don't feel you have gloves on. These are pretty good even for weeding small seedlings. Many brands are fairly similar. It is definitely worth to try a few different ones to see which are the best personal fit. I haven't tried these, so this is just an example:

Most of these types of gloves don't last very long, but usually they are very cheap.
Maxiflex also has some similar, but I think slightly thicker gloves as compared to above. A little pricier and a bit different coating as well. I tried these. They are pretty good. Again it is up to personal preference:
