Many people root hoyas in water and then pot them up but I've never seen one growing like that in floral foam. If you decide to plant your Hindu Rope Hoya (Hoya carnosa 'Compacta') into soil, I'd suggest using a small pot (be sure it has drainage holes in the bottom) and an airy, well draining potting medium. Years ago when I grew numerous hoyas, I always used a mixture of bagged potting soil and orchid bark mix which offers good air circulation around the root system.
