@shawnsteve A belated answer to your questions. I have lots of irises I like better!

As to the NOID, I am not sure which one I mentioned. Most of my 40+ irises have become NOIDs due to my move from California and loss of labels. I had purchased 20 irises from a major hobbyist seven years ago, before I knew much about growing irises. She wrote the names on the leaves, but once the leaves dried out, the names were not readable. I regret not writing them down. I did a lot of research, and found a lot of "looks like" names, so I labeled them as best I could, just for my database. When my husband re-landscaped the yard last spring, I asked him to keep the irises with their labels, but he must have misheard me, because I went out to find all the irises in one pile and the labels in another. So most are basically NOIDs, for now, except for the small percentage that had courage enough to bloom last year. I am very anxious for bloom season to start for me this year! The middle of May is the usual date except for the early dwarfs.

I bought five irises from Schreiner's two years ago -- so those are labeled, but two rotted. I see what people are saying about the historics being more reliable.

By the way, I was well into my 40s before I realized 'puce' was not a snotty green color. Smiling
