Alive, awake and back in garden beds after watching rot take over so many of the rhizomes with a 2018 rainfall setting an all time record, with Jan-Feb 2019 close to records as well. Plus the usual aging health issues with spouse and a few myself. Back issues will limit much this season and chiro has not helped much.
Got to clean out beds over the weekend and saw that Preen does not stop the seeds from overwintering weeds, so hand pulling and maybe some dreaded chemicals. So inventory taken of fans starting and found about 15 gone and around 5 or so in the very iffy state. Ground is still saturated but at least not soggy to walk on. Markers scattered. A mess
Planning what to do next and looking toward growing irises that are hardy in this environment based on where they were bred and which have done well thusfar for the most part.
Wet again this am and dispensed with several slugs doing their morning jog across the walks.
