Jim, I bought this one as a tiny little baby from Oak Hill, it took some years before I saw blooms.
In the meanwhile I came across a huge plant at a show for 20 bucks! I bought it on the spot! It flowered nicely the first year, it bloomed in spectacular fashion the second year and simply expired right after that. As the mop-heads started to fade, each leaf turned black and dropped. There was no way I was able to stop it. I wonder if the plant bloomed itself to death?
The little plant posted here, blooms now steady as it comes, no great show, just nice and easy. I picked up another small plant last March from a Malaysian vendor at the SEPOS and that one has 2 buds ready to unfold. It is also mounted. I think it works for me since I water plenty. Btw they get filtered light, but after blooming I will move them to a slightly brighter location to avoid problems like with that big plant.
And some more stuff today:
Blc Hawaiian Green Valley x Rhyncholaelia digbyana 'Laura' opened the customary single bloom/ growth, courtesy of the digbyana parent. Looks like a second growth might bloom in late Winter.
Dendrobium linguiforme var nugentii is blooming now
Dendrobium rigidum, another sun-loving miniature
