Rebekah Hurray! Congrats. You must be thrilled! I was first tempted to guess Blanc Double de Coubert in her lineage. My BDC is very fragrant so I would hope that her child will continue being so.
My first seedling of a rugosa is already three years old. It has 7 canes and this summer showed its first buds on one but..alas Sighing! the buds were dropped off early so its still a mystery for me. The mother is Roseraie de L'Haÿe; pollen unknown. However what I do like about it are its autumn foliage colours so it will be a keeper for that purpose for sure. It also is a well formed shrub so it adds a nice structure in the back of the border. For blooms I will have to wait for next season... Sighing!
Thanks to your post I was tempted out into my garden to keep on collecting hips. I collected hips from a floribunda 'Cumbaya' that set plenty of tiny hips.

I've collected seeds of 'Fourth of July', Georgette,( a Interplant floribunda), Altissimo, and some OGRs : Ferdinand Pichard, Rosamundi, . From my tour I spotted quite a few more hips that may reach ( seed) ripeness . This year I'll only know which are the seed plants. The pollen was cared by bees... Whistling At least I'll have hopefully seedlings to see "What if?"... Crossing Fingers! and get an idea of the ammount of work and space my hobby breeding requires.
I spotted two different rugosas that might have ripe seeds. : 'Hansaland' and 'Maria Rosario'. The latter is a cultivar developed by Mrs Vidal in her nursery near Buenos Aires: soft pink very fragrant...that would Canadian Carol swoon. So I'm expectant to get like you something from her children .
