Pat Strong,

In 2017, I purchased one of Pat Stamile's new introductions ( and had bought from them for years, know them, etc.) and when it bloomed, it looked nothing like his picture. So after a few more blooms still looked nothing like the registration, I politely emailed Pat and asked him to look at my picture and see if it could possibly be the new registration I'd ordered. He responded within a few hours and told me it was a sib seedling that he had been growing next to the introduction. As he was sold out, he immediately sent me a full refund. Glad because it had been $150. He also apologized profusely, which was appreciated immensely but all of us know that such mistakes sometimes happen. As I'd ordered from them for years, I knew that usually his plants looked at least close enough to the pictures to confirm that it was the correct plant. I offered to return the seedling to him but he told me I was welcome to keep it, as he had decided not to register it. Below is the seedling, which was a tet RFK seedling and IMHO, not bad. It does well here.

Moral of the story: Don't hesitate to send the hybridizer a picture if it appears it can't possibly be the plant you bought. Hopefully they will step up and either send you the correct plant or a refund like Pat S. did!
