Hi Dianne,

If you reread my post above you will see that I did state that cannas are not true lilies. Smiling All of my cannas are grown in containers that I bring inside to a cool room and water very infrequently over the winter. In the spring I take them outside and dump them out. Then I divide out a few sections and replant for the current year and find local takers for the excess.

I have no idea why so many unrelated plants end up with "Lily" in their common name. It confuses the inexperienced gardeners and often their questions about cannas, callas, peace, etc end up here on the "Lily" forum. Personally, I prefer using Lilium instead of lily but as a moderator here from time to time I have to deal with the mis-naming.
