I don't grow the Trumpet Creepers/Trmpet Vines but perhaps your plant is the "Chinese Trumpet Creeper" (Campsis grandiflora): http://ag.sfasu.edu/UserFiles/... which is not supposed to be as aggressive as C. radicans.
