Sedum makinoi 'Ogon' does just fine here in Houston. I have it in the ground in several places. It has gone through many times of multiple inch rains. It is in bright shade with just a little sun. I actually have to water it in the summer, if the soil starts to get too dry. It gets sparse in winter, but comes back strong as soon as it warms up.
