How many Penstemon smallii were you wanting to plant out? I may be able to help you out there- I wintersowed P.smallii 'Violet Dusk' this year and they're up, and have plants I wintersowed last year of the straight species, that I kind of clump planted, so they're dividable. And they look like they'll bloom this year.
