Esperanza said: The gabions in the pictures below I used different materials on. The taller one is a plant stand that the shelves came undone from rust. I wrapped it with a larger sized fencing material and secured it close with wire. The shorter one I used smaller sized fencing. I just cut a square the size of the circle I wanted to make and wire the ends together. The top is a piece to a grill and a tile on top. I guess I need to get around to putting some containers on them for this year. I will probably do some agaves. I always forget to water whatever goes there and need something hardy. The easiest way is to find an old animal trap and take out the insides.

These were being worked on through the winter and made temporary bird feeders. The proper way to use an animal trap Rolling on the floor laughing

Edit to add that you want to make sure and overlap the ends a little for added strength when wiring. You don't want your wiring job to be doing all the heavy lifting.

I said in an earlier post that you inspired me @Esperanza. Here's the proof. The gabions are done!
My son-in-law built the wire cylinders and I did the rest. It was quite an endeavor. There were fire ants, cactus thorns, and a couple of red-headed centipedes to contend with during the process. There was a little blood and a lot of sweat. Still have more work to do around the tree, and the plants need to perk up (especially the silver pony foot), but my back is saying NO. MORE. ROCKS. TODAY. It was fun, and I'm pleased with the results. And, yes, I still have plenty of rocks left over for the next project. I'm thinking a crevice garden...... Hilarious!
