You should try some woven groundcover it lasts 20 years no problem. I buy mine from a seller on ebay called allseasonscovered. Localy I was paying 125 for a 3 x 300ft roll now I pay less for a 6 x 600 ft roll incluing shipping. I've been buying from them for 3 years now and have about 1 acre covered so far. I don't know them or have any affiliation they was just the cheapest I found for heavy duty groundcovers.
I agree the stuff in the big box stores sold as landscape fabric is cheap crap that will let weeds come through the first year. The only time I have a weeds on my woven groundcover is if soil washes on top of it but even then they are easily removed. Nothing is ever coming through the bottom of this stuff Thumbs up
