Carol, I love your roses. They are beautiful. My favorite still is Holly Bells. I have loved that one from the beginning. So, so pretty!
Well folks, according to Alexa, at 8:30 pm it was still 103 F outside. Summer is definitely here. Plus there were thunder storms (from the heat) over the mountain tonight, so the humidity is up as the clouds have spread over parts of the valley. Ugh! Tomorrow is going to be worse. Double Ugh! On top of that, the Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes are baaaa-aack. Triple Ugh! I have several bites (that itch like crazy) on my feet, legs and ankles. My foot is nice and swollen from them. They bite right through your clothing. So due to the heat and the mosquitoes, being out in the yard is pretty much impossible right now. We are pretty much going to be over 105 F for at least the next seven days. Hope the power doesn't go out.
DB had his first radiation therapy session today. One down 24 more to go. We get to see the Radiologist after the treatment tomorrow. Silly me. I did not realize that one should avoid certain foods while having radiation, e.g., any food that has free radicals. I will also try to teach DB how to do kegels, since problems with urination can result from the radiation. Us females may do them on a regular basis. Not sure how to translate that information to males, but found a great site from the Mayo clinic on how men can do this.
Now, I also found a great website on plants that will work in the hot areas of California. I have been redesigning my sister's front yard and have been substituting more drought tolerant plants that I have been researching for use in the yard (she states she wants a nice yard, but I know she will never take care of it--so the plants pretty much have to be on their own). I thought I would share with everyone in case they want to learn more.
