DaisyDo said:Evelyn, I have the same complaint as you with regard to P-Touch label wastage. I usually only print one label at a time, so even with it set to "narrow Margins" there is always wasted tape on the left side that has to be cut off. I tried the "chain" setting, and it did not work well for me. Maybe I just haven't gotten the hang of it yet.

From what I have read online, there will always be wasted tape on the left side of every print job, because of the laminating process that goes on internally in the label-maker. I would guess that the least wastage therefore comes with making multiple labels at once with the chain method. I just haven't gotten the hang of that sequence, yet. Making the font "narrow" also helps to keep from wasting tape.

Daisy ~ In the beginning, I was very frustrated regarding the label maker and how to operate it as efficiently as possible. It took me a while to learn, "chain printing", which is the most efficient use of the labels. Of course you could make them with tiny print, but wouldn't that defeat the purpose of being able to read the labels? Thinking

I will try and explain it in simple terms. If you have 2 or more different iris orders coming in, you can make them all up ahead of time, then you will have even less waste. Just print them consecutively and then cut them off at the end. (Of course, you may get bonuses and have to make some new labels, but let's deal with that later.)

What I did was to print them in the order listed on my copies of the order forms that was sent to me by email.

After you have already selected the font and size, then it will ask, "Copies" then just press enter, if needing only one copy, otherwise put the number of copies needed, then press enter. After that one printed, there will be a question, "Feed OK?". Then if you are needing more labels, press the escape ("Esc") button, and then go to the "clear/backspace" button and erase the name of the label you just printed.
After that you type in the next label to be printed. Then repeat as often as necessary.

You can consolidate your orders and cut them later, saving that blank space until the very end. It took me a while to figure all of this out, but in the end it was worth it. I hope this helps.

What I did was go to YouTube and see the demonstration, "chain printing for P-Touch labelmakers".
