Most of my Phalaenopsis are in Water Culture - I have been converting them for the last 2 years. Originally, I thought I would go with semi-water culture but, I was wrong. The roots don't rot but only 1/4 to 1/3 of the roots are in water. On the plus side, I don't need to worry about remembering to water or have someone come in when I go on vacation.

This is a thread in the Orchid Forum on just that subject.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
