Whoa! First I was mentally trying to pronounce 'Zingiber zerumbet' and then I was taken aback by the 'bloom is always separate from the plant itself'.

This is a plant that came home with me from the previously mentioned RU. It's either the Shampoo Ginger or whatever was sitting next to it during that cold snap. Lived for a long time. No idea what it might have been other than 'out of the pot' (as opposed to 'out of pot'). Has had some good roots, tho. Also included is a view from the top.
