@SoCalGardenNut Having afternoon direct sun really changes matters for you. I apologize but I misunderstood your conditions. Then your listing should work fine. Thick petalled roses possibly would do better there (i.e Double Delight, a fav and very fragrant here) although they'll possibly will bloom less than in a full sun condition. I also take into account the reflected light from your walls which should account for at least another hour of direct exposure. Perhaps you are then not so far away from the ideal 6 hours or more.
