This is from a grower in India:

The logic behind keeping the plants without water, food, is called forcing. Time depends on the plant size. 15 days to 3 months.
You can train a plant to give flowers on a particular time. If u want your plant to b ready with bloom say in april then keep the plant for 30 days and repot in mid of march. Most of the time you get only flowers not leaves.
That is how Thailand people keep their plants ready for flower show.
