A vast majority of Phalaenopsis will bloom just fine without a cool night treatment.
Others, I have no real hard numbers on this, but I would say, 15% or so need a little coaxing with a cool night incentive. At least this is what my experience leads me to believe. And yes, once the spike has shown up, no other cool nights are needed OR would make any difference.
