It does like a lot of humidity. It is also a water lover when planted into the ground. I have not grown in in containers so I don't know how it responds that way. It will survive a brief foray of cold and drought but not too many episodes. It will lose its top growth and if the trunk does not freeze it will slowly come back. It is good paired with Philodendron mamei because they have the same growth habit
