Here, even after the time change, kids are catching the bus in the cold and dark in the mornings anyway. An hour either way makes no difference .
I grew up in Pittsburgh, where winters were plenty cold and snowy. I went to a Catholic school which had no school buses. I either walked to school (a mile) in the dark, or took a public streetcar. My parents had to pay for it. Unless the snow was feet deep, we walked most of the time. It was fun. We had snowball fights. We'd meet up with friends. When I was older and involved in after school activities, I often walked home in the dark too. I have survived to be 67.
Today's kids are snowflakes, and I love daylight savings time.
