Best things in the world - right after irises of course!
Some of you have been asking for photos from my new garden and I've finally managed to put something together to show a bit of what I've been up to since we moved in April of last year. Those of you who have good memories will probably recognise some of the photos:
The House when we moved in. We've only just started removing turf for the patio bed.
Patio bed last September.
The patio bed this summer:
The south east corner of the front garden when we moved in.
Now with (unfinished) woodland beds:
The backyard before:
The former owner bred and trained hunting dogs, so all they had was lawn.
The first fruit trees in the orchard last spring.
Some of the temporary bulb and perennial beds this spring (iris seedling beds and roses in the far back)
More temporary bulb beds.
The beginning of my Iris Hill with room for a pond (somewhere to put those water-loving irises!) and a larger 'dry lake' (as in 'dry riverbed') for sibs and other plants, which will not like the drier soil on the hill.
The rest of the backyard this summer:
Recent visitors:
We have had a small flock of these (European Goldfinch) staying with us for over a month now.
Male Ring-necked Pheasant
The neighbour 'mowing the lawn':
That's it for now!
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice!
