Yesterday my son's mother in law arrived from Beijing and for the first time visited my home today. I have been very busy starting lily seeds and have seeded baggies all over the place... in the bathroom, on the end tables, on the kitchen table, and on any other horizontal surface where there is room.

She doesn't speak English and I don't speak Mandarin (though I am trying to learn some basics). My daughter in law (who speaks perfect English) interprets. Anyway, I told her I was planting lily seeds in all of the baggies; she seemed quite impressed! Then I flung open the patio door and kind of waved my arm towards my shaggy, soggy backyard gardens and told her I grow my vegetables "out there" in the summer. I showed her my florescent light setup and the few things I had going there. Again very impressed, especially after she nibbled on a bit of arugula I had under the lights. A while later after they left, I got to wondering.... did she think I was growing all those lilies for food? Confused Confused Hilarious! .

Lefty, I think you should put your bulb photos in the database. I believe the food focus of Asians is on L. davidii and L. lancifolium, at least that is what I have read.
