Someone you might want to get in touch with who has decades of experience with these type of woodland plants is Ian Young. He's very well self educated regarding Erythronium, Crocus and Narcissus to name a few. He grows Podophylum in his garden too, but to what extend he's knowledgeable in this genus you'll have to ask him yourself.
