Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 56. West wind around 5 mph.

Gene,
I assume it took baking soda. When they came to the farm they had it ready to go.
I think H.L. Mencken had it right.
I still look up every time the geese pass over.
I'm with you on passing a medical appt. You know how your body feels. Take a break.

Kristi,
Laughing! I'm sure I'll be running across a few more old-timey stories.

Dave,
Shouting HOORAY for passing it!!!

Rj,
Someone brought the Innocent Project up in a private group, but we need to see if her appeal goes thru. That's due to be turned in by the 16th. It should take 4 months but can go as long as 10 with extensions filed.

Ginny,
Perfect spring weight humor.

Jim,
Let's hope the virus doesn't get arms and legs, lol!

Jeanne,
That's usually my clue as to whether the frost is out of the ground. All the rain soaked in so I think I've thawed.

Grocery day and I had very little to get.

Story Time:

Summer Surprises

My swing set was like no other. It had a rust-colored round bar, open at both ends, that set on top of two tall round poles. There was also a low bar attached to one side that we did rollovers on. The wrens nested in the open bar every summer and would chitter at us as they came and went. We never did see any babies leave the nest.

One night, when I was little, my grandparents were at our house. Dad and Grandad were sitting outside right before dusk so I went out to swing. As I ran towards the swingset, I stopped and let out a scream! Sitting on top of the bar, were three screech owls! They didn't screech, but they didn't move either. It was scary and I ran for the house! Grandad just laughed.

So where have they screech owls gone? When I was a kid they were here every summer. The last time I saw them it was many years ago late in the evening. I watched one adult drop down out the tree, pick something up and feed it to the young one.

In spite of that, I've loved them ever since. I wish they would come back. I'm not scared now.

First picture, I'm on the glider way in the back on the left side. Second, a glimpse of the small bar and third is my brother. You can see how tall it was.
