Oh yes, Bonitin, now I do recall some (most?) Hosta seed being more oblong like that, but not all. Still, I'm really not that experienced in that genus to know enough to say. But I do know lilies, as I have personally examine about 75 different Lilium species seeds, plus hybrids. They are not Lilium, but I do see the resemblance.
Danita's suggestion is a good possibility. There are round seeded and flat seeded types of Allium, and they are almost always black. Both Hosta and Allium are monocots and do not have the two cotyledons that we are so accustomed to. I've grown about 15 different species of Allium from seed, and it is pretty common for the first single narrow leaf tips to wither like that when grown inside. The first shoot of a hosta should widen to resemble a normal leaf.
So I lean toward an Allium of some type, but we will know for sure as the plant grows.
