Back several posts, regarding the Laura's re-seeding. I too have been taught that frozen is frozen. What gets frozen things up here is not just the temp, but the duration at those temps. We'll get our first hard freeze late September and can potentially stay that way till mid-May. Then, january through February with temps normally never over 40 below is pretty traumatic, even with adequate snow cover. Things get desiccated/freeze dried. Best way to explain is to compare to ice cubes in your freezer. They are frozen regardless of the temp, but left in there over time, the moisture disappears and they shrink down to nothing or even disappear in the tray.
