Lin. We are in a RV park called Gulf View
It is in SW Florida. In a small town called Punta Gorda.. up the road from fort Meyers Sanibel..Captiva.. Naples .. it takes me about two hours to reach my sis in Fort Lauderdale
Lots of retirees ,. Great downtown.. every single weekend and on weekend days.. farmers markets..music, craft, festivals.. decent arts community.. plays.. all kinds of sports for us old folks.. golf, pickle ball, tournaments, fishing, kayaking bicycling
In the park.. there is something daily ( not now with virus) music.. dinners, aerobics, bike, golf, cards, PARADEs, there isn't any wife swapping like other areas I have read about.. everybody pretty much is stuck with what they married, You can rent the spot monthly or yearly or in between. There are park models as well as towing RV and Driving RV,. a nice group./ mix
Typical snowbird demographics. The resort does chip in for dinners and some activities, parties.. so those are free.. other things we pay for if interested..like the lobster dinner.. or bingo pots. For storage... Some of our neighbors move the RV OFF into a private protected commercial storage.. climate controlled ..that will be a few hundred a month.. others drive or pull back home .. some rent outdoor spots -no electric no climate control 75-100 a month ish.
One park will let you leave your RV plugged in ..and visit it "off season" for 4 days a month and I think that is 275 a month. that's for folks who don't want to pay an annual monthly fee and yet want some access so no storage. So lots of options. We do not haul. I did not want to buy another pickup we have one that's 20 years old in NC and we haul our landscape debris and take it to home depot if we buy lumber, etc. ,.. a yard dog as they say, but to buy a truck to haul.. that's a big truck and big $$ and they don't get a lot of MPG..and like you we are not comfortable hauling .. that's a lotta weight and a lot of steel we are not experienced.
So we pay a dollar a mile ..the hauler carries the liability if in accident .. we only moved it once from Ocala / Williston to here $400 bucks plus a tip . Now we leave it here in Punta Gorda all year. If we find another area we want to explore. then we will move it. We come down for 4=6/months depending on desire. Nice and safe place to " live" . If a hurricane comes we can hire the resort to have it put in protected storage. Most leave it in place. We had a deck put on ..that's strapped down Water is free. Cable is free as is WiFi. Electric for our 38 foot towable is about $60 a month rent is 570 a month because we are on concrete ..grass is less . That's all I can think of. It's not the least expensive park nor the most .. we are actually paying for the area. We can walk to Publix, Walmart, Home Depot and a wonderful, downtown is 4 min away. Neighboring towns have great downtowns too . There is a 4 month wait list formGulf View. Some leave their golf carts here. We have none. We sometimes take our 24 foot drive able class B.. we have been exploring NC towns and Virginia for several years in that. And so, we can use this towable as a base and we can go up to panhandle and camp for a long weekend..or the keys etc. .. it gets 21 mpg so affordable
The cake. I will tree mail you the recipe as I fear I took up too much space here ... but RVing is what we are doing in quarantine! But we didn't plan it! And the virus controls here are strict . Pool closed. Club house closed. shuffleboard, bocce all cancelled . I have seen gatherings usually less than 10 where there is a cook out. We wave! I only have inside photo of RV. I will tree mail you the outside if I find some
