I love the revival of this thread. It's full of wonderful rock garden plants which I would love to grow. My rock garden is still a completely imaginary project. I do have a few plants growing in pots though...I'm getting closer.... 
For instance I have about 70 pots full of Lewisia cotyledon rosettes. It could easily replace the semps into a Lewisia hill. Has anyone ventured in growing Lewisias in the garden instead of an alpine house? They've done quite well here with natural summer drought in their pots, so I'm tempted to get them fully out into the open garden.
