Water globes provide a constant supply of water and will keep the soil damp or wet for a long time. That can work for some plants such as Peace Lily but not for others that need to dry out regularly. Some folks use them when they go away because the globes serve as a reservoir of water that will last while they are away.

I think there is an easier solution for your dilemma. When you water your plants do it slowly and simply stop when a small, amount trickles through the drain holes. If the pot sits in water that evaporates within 24 hours, it will not be a problem. Watering a plant too soon, before it has had a chance to dry out properly is a much more cause overwatering.
