Jan I'm very visual, so definitely yes. Iris names are so evocative. Not only do some make references to Star Trek or Jurassic park playing on relatable imagery, but others create their own.

I will stand there looking into an iris hoping to see what they saw; To somehow discover how It is relatable to that show, image or time period. After all Irises are ephemeral works of art. They deserve to be studied.
Is it the ruffle, the vivid color, the veining the tiny shimmery flecks? In the least, it's a great marketing ploy. I love the Name "Fog Bound", I imagine a quiet wall of white rolling forward engulfing the fields.
Or picking out the bits of gold seeing scales on "There Be Dragons Here", as the hill behind me breaths slowly and releases puffs of smoke.

Then there's the brown falls maybe simply representing the servants gown "Cinderella's Secret". How fun is "Cow Palace" ? Is there royal bovine with iris flower crowns with "Crowned heads"? LoL and " Cow Pie"well being in the country that's not all that hard to imagine . I'm starting to love the browns in irises and it's really unfair for hybridizes to give them names relating to coffee. Being a caffeine, specifically coffee addict, I can almost smell it the heavenly brown roast just looking at say "Milk in my Coffee". And then there are Irises say "Skating Party" that take me back to the eighties and my childhood. "Thunderbird" Was my High school. Mascot. Though I'd rather visualize a mythical thunderbird, The wood carved Totem pole with the T-Bird ,as we called it, at the top is what comes to mind. Then there's numerous Irises that sound like exotic desserts and I imagin I very much need to try them all.
