I have three of those new Japanese hybrids ( Perfect Orange, Pink Ribbons and Carmen Lucia) and from what I've read, the jury is still out on how hardy they are. They suffered frost damage far more than my other ice plants early this winter. I covered them with a lots of leaves to protect them, plus I brought cuttings inside and rooted them.
