Sour Dough and the Friendship bread are both wild yeast starters, but are not the same. I've had and used both over the years, but quit the friendship one, as it wasn't something I liked that much. I had a sour dough starter for many years, but lost it some years back. I've also made "Salt Rising Bread", which is another interesting bread that you can make, it has a very different taste from most traditional breads, but good. You can find how to make it via Google. It's a bit tedious to make, not for a beginner I'd think.

Here's a video that shows you how to make the Salt Rising Bread. I used the potato process.
