I am a little slow here getting to the dividing daylilies question. I have many methods and have been known to just hack the clump in half with a sharp blunt tip shovel or alternately, just cut it in half with this big garden knife that I have. But best way (and my favorite) is too use the dandelion weeder tool that I have. They sell them in Home Depot and it is ment to dig up a dandelion by pressing down next to the root and lifting while at the same time pushing down. I use it by pushing it into the daylily clump that I have dig up. Helps if you can find a place in the clump that looks like it would be a good place to seperate. Then just wiggle it around and push it down and usually the clump just splits apart. It really is my favorite way of dividing.
