And if it does get really cold (without snow) you can always throw some straw or even some old sheets over them for the cold snap, as long as it's short lived. I did the straw for my daylilies when we went down to the mid 20's a couple of weeks ago, and they didn't even notice.
In the end, only kindness matters.
