"A disturbing new study suggests Sean Hannity's show helped spread the coronavirus

Sophisticated new research links Hannity's coronavirus misinformation to "a greater number of Covid-19 cases and deaths."
"Using both a poll of Fox News viewers over age 55 and publicly available data on television-watching patterns, they calculate that Fox viewers who watched Hannity rather than Carlson were less likely to adhere to social distancing rules, and that areas where more people watched Hannity relative to Carlson had higher local rates of infection and death.

"Greater exposure to Hannity relative to Tucker Carlson Tonight leads to a greater number of COVID-19 cases and deaths," they write. "A one-standard deviation increase in relative viewership of Hannity relative to Carlson is associated with approximately 30 percent more COVID-19 cases on March 14, and 21 percent more COVID-19 deaths on March 28.""

You know, You seem to like to criticize governments. I'm rather partial to your criticizing your own socialist health system to my country.

It must feel bad to have your heart so filled with hate. I kind of feel sorry for you. You must be a miserable person. You criticize your own country's socialized medical care, then cast a wide net to trash my country. Have you ever even been here? How many hours of Foxnews have you actually viewed? I'd bet none.

Karen

Hello Karen @kqcrna,

Sorry for replying a bit late, but I had to go to work, as we are still open here, so didn't really have the time to dedicate to an answer until now.

First of, the healthcare system here in Sweden have been influenced by ideas from the health care system in the USA, since almost 30 years. That is viewing healthcare more as an industry, paying not simply for just being there and providing care, put to rather pay for the number of surgeries and treatments actually done and so on. Political winds come and go, sometimes from the left sometimes from the right, but today a good portion of healthcare is privatized and there are also a few private hospitals. The total cost of healthcare is around 60% of what you pay in the USA, the difference being then that most of the cost is payed through taxes and you only pay a small fee when you seek medical assistance.

I have definitely seen some Fox news. Overall there seem to be a high percentage of non factual political reporting, so for me the total viewing time would not be high. No, I never had the pleasure of visiting the US. I do think it would have been a great experience. Smiling

Now over to the accusation that I criticize your country. It feels like you are throwing a very large stone my way, just because I link to an American article that is quoting a scientific study that has analyzed some reporting on Fox news and its sometimes tragic outcome. In my humble opinion it would be a terrible idea if Fox News was all that America is as you (perhaps unintentionally) seem to imply.

Personally I'm not at all nationalistic, so for me all nations are the same. People is what I think is interesting. Even then it is my goal (although sometimes, or even often, I do fail) to try to differentiate between bad people and bad actions. For instance, while it is not a pleasant thing to experience, upon reflection I do not think that you are a bad person for mounting a personal attack on me, but I do not think that the action itself is honorable. I never could be.

I do reserve my right to dislike bad or evil action, regardless of who commits them. Thankfully there are a lot of American's, Swede's and people all over the world that try their very best to do good and to be generally fantastic. I do strongly believe that all of us need to look hard at our politicians, agency's and media to find out if they actually represent the world that we want and the values we have, especially in these times!

I contemplated posting a few questions back to you, but at this point I choose to not bring further rhetoric to what I suspect ultimately is an emotional response from you. You, Karen isn't Fox News, you might like them a lot, but you are not them and not in a million years was it my intention to hurt you when I provided a link to that article.
