I don't know Sharon. The first thought I had even before enlarging the photo was Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) albeit a young one. They do come in that color yellow. Does it have any stem on it yet at all? When they are very young they can have leaves & bloom like that yet not have grown any thorns yet. Look at this link:
