They don't like black and fuzzy because bears and coons are black and fuzzy. Your dog should be fine as long as she stays away from their hive and doesn't interrupt them while they are foraging. You are also safe as long as you don't bother them and don't wear a scent that attracts them to check you out as a possible food source. By now they should have their food stores built up and will not be as aggressive as they were a few weeks ago.

Africanized bees on the other hand are mean no matter what so you want to keep an eye out for those.
